The short version

We ask for as little as possible. An adult signs in with an email address. Children never have accounts, are never asked for their name, and appear only as an illustrated elf with a name the family chooses. We do not sell or share personal data, and we do not show advertising.

What we store

• Your email address — to sign you in (we send a link; there are no passwords) and to send you the emails you have agreed to. You can switch the weekly emails off on your account page or with the link in every email.
• Your lights — an elf name, an illustrated avatar, a country and a town. The map shows the town area, never an address.
• Optional — a birthday for an elf (you choose whether the age is shown), a family name you make up, a line about the family, and what you post: diary entries, wishes, letters, greetings, comments and photos.
• Your Peace Game answers — what you chose in each situation, shown back to you and counted anonymously in “what the world did”.
• Your circle — the email addresses of the people you invite, and the names you give them.
• Donations — when you send a gift through peace2000.org, Fundraise Up tells us the donation succeeded and which light it belongs to, so the light becomes a star. Payment details never reach us.

What we do not store

Photos you use to match an elf avatar are looked at once to pick a head, hair colour and skin tone and are not saved. We do not track you across other websites. The only cookies are the one that keeps you signed in and one that remembers which Peace Game situations this browser has answered.

Who can see what

The map, light cards, elf pages and family pages can be seen by anyone who has the link; they are not listed or searchable. Only you and the people you let into your circle can write on your pages. Names shown next to comments and greetings are the ones you typed for them — never their email addresses. You can remove any comment, greeting, wish, post or circle member at any time. Wish “taken care of” markers store the helper’s name and email privately; the page shows only a tick.

Letters to Santa and the Peace Game

Replies to letters and the “what happened next” in the Peace Game are written by an AI service (Anthropic) from the text you submit and your elf name. Nothing about your identity is sent with it, and the service does not keep the text to train on. Every reply follows fixed rules: no gift promises, nothing personal asked, nothing unsuitable for a child.

Where the data lives

Our database and servers run on Vercel and Neon (EU/US cloud regions), photos on Cloudflare R2, emails through Amazon SES. Each of these processes data on our behalf under their standard data-processing terms.

Your rights

You can see, change or delete everything on your pages yourself. To delete your whole account and every light in it, or to ask what we hold about you, write to peacegram@earthchild.net from the email address you signed in with; we do it within 30 days. If you believe something on a page should not be there, use the same address — we look at every report.

Children

Peacegram is used by families together. The account always belongs to an adult, who decides what is posted about a child. We never ask a child for a real name, address, school or photo, and elf pages carry no such details. If you think a child’s data has reached us without a parent’s say, tell us and we remove it.
